Restored express steam locomotives 5917, entered service in 1953, having been build by Baldwin Works in Philadelphia, USA, and operated across the New South Wales Government Railways, on all forms of freight haulage trains as well as various passenger trains. The locomotive spent its last year in service up the North Coast in 1972 before being withdrawn from service by the Government Railways.
The locomotive's heritage train consists of stainless steel body 'FS' express passenger carriages originally built in the 1930s by Sydney based Commonwealth Engineering, and were used on all forms of passenger trains across NSW until the late 1980's with road coaches and the introduction of the XPTs (Presently in service with Countrylink) consequently withdrawing these carriges from service.
